A message from the Queen:

The Queen’s Ink is delighted to host Seth Apter’s first Studio Session. This is a uniquely different workshop that promises to “Refine your technique….and Transform your Art!   We strive to bring you artists that not only inspire creativity, but also educate and elevate each of you as artist.  Seth is one of the best and most respected in the industry today. What an exciting way to kick-off our Guest Artist Calendar for 2020. I hope you will join us for this amazing opportunity. Please note that this workshop is not suited for a beginner as there is a good amount of self-direction and independent creating involved.  There will be plenty of one-on-one opportunities for each of you with Seth as well. For that reason, Seth has set the number of students to 16 maximum…..No Exceptions!

No bargaining with the Queen, No whining or bribes will change this!

A different type of workshop experience. For the artist who…

  • wants something different than the traditional follow-the-leader, step-by-step instruction.
  • is looking to shake up their creative practice and find a new direction.
  • wants to be pushed in a safe and supportive atmosphere.
  • thrives when working alongside other creative individuals.
  • wants to further develop their creative talent, artistic voice, and art practice.

Seth will be your guide, offering ongoing demonstrations using the materials (paint, ink, texture mediums, paper, fabric, etc.) and processes (surface design, layering, texturizing, mark making, etc.) that together form the basis of mixed media art. Time will be set aside for discussions about both process (loosening up, getting started, making commercial products your own, etc.) and practice (getting serious, finding your artistic voice, studio habits, etc.) – as well as open Q&A to discuss the creative issues that are most important to you. One-on-one direction, feedback, and support will be offered throughout the workshop.

Much of your studio time will be spent working on your own projects at your own pace. As such, the supply list for this workshop is non-traditional. In addition to a basic kit listed below and the supplies that Seth will provide, you are asked to bring in a (limited) selection of some of the following…

  • your favorite and most used art supplies.
  • your current art journal – or a new art journal to start.
  • art projects that you are currently working on or have put aside to finish “one of these days”.
  • bits and pieces that you have made in other workshops that have never gotten used.

In addition, each of you will be provided with a cradled wood panel to work on as you follow along with the demonstrations, exercises, and discussions. There will be no sample and no two creations will be alike as it will be up to you to decide the steps along with way as you work on your piece. Please note that this workshop is not suited for a beginner as there is a good amount of self-direction and independent creating involved. The goal is to combine your usual artistic approach, the processes demonstrated in the workshop, and the individual feedback provided so that you develop fuel for your own artistic practice and create a kick-ass piece of art.

Feel free to email me at with any questions regarding attendance, supplies, etc.
