This workshop, hosted by The Queen’s Ink, Savage Mill, Maryland, will discuss and demonstrate how your handwriting is learned from an early age and then develops into unique individual characteristics. Handwriting is a positive physical evidence much like a fingerprint and DNA. The difference between handwriting analysis, graphology (study of fine writing), and forensic lexicology (linguistics) will be clarified, all used to examine “questioned writing” in a criminal investigation. PRESENTER BIO: The presenter of this workshop, Thomas P. Mauriello, is an educator, author, consultant and public speaker. For the past 41 years he has been an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology. He is a former police investigator and retired special agent with the United Stated Department of Defense. He is a forensic consultant and CEO of his company, ForensIQ, Inc., Laurel Maryland. A sought after forensic sciences consultant, he is regularly interviewed by newspaper, television and radio news media, and seen on local and national news TV shows and Discovery Channel documentaries. He is an accomplished author, who has written three books in the fields of forensic science and criminal investigations entitled, “Introduction to Criminalistics – From Crime Scene to Court Room,” “Criminal Investigation Handbook — Strategy, Law and Science,” and “The Dollhouse Murders,” illustrating crime scene dioramas used to study the crime scene investigation (CSI) process.
