Spend the day making a charming felted bird…or maybe a partridge for your pear tree.
Join Elizabeth for a creative and fun class in learning the basics of wool felting. In the spring of 2019, our dear friend Elizabeth duToit made 100 or more birds to use as a center pieces for her daughter Charlotte’s wedding. The birds were all shapes and sizes and each was uniquely decorated and had their own charm and character. They made quite a stunning display for the reception. Many of you saw them and just as many of you have asked Elizabeth to teach a workshop on her beautiful “Felted Birds”. You asked and she answered. If you have ever wanted to try felting, this is the class for you. Don’t miss out on this onetime opportunity to learn a new technique and leave with your own one-of-a-kind felted bird. Perfect for decorating or holiday gift giving.
Elizabeth will be providing most of the material for this project. In the morning, you will use a wet felt technique using a form and wool roving. After you have “birthed” your bird, the afternoon will be spent decorating your avian creature.
Elizabeth will provide:
A bird form
Roving wool of all colors
Soap for felting
Felting needle for touch up
All kinds of ephemera for embellishments, some old jewelry and beads.
Buttons, feathers, etc.
Students should bring:
Craft sheet to work on, scissors, and any personal items or costume jewelry you might want to use to embellish your bird.
