Using text as texture is a great way of building a foundation for artistic backgrounds. Whether it be for collage, watercolor, or acrylic painting, text can also be a great focal point. In this workshop you will use color blocking and a grid layout as your surface design. Patti will guide you through an array of techniques and exercises using papers, letters, ephemera, stencils, alphabets & numbers, and inks & paints. You will be able to pick and choose from the many techniques, as to what you want to "Text", as well as having plenty of room to add your own spin on this artful conversation. (There are several examples in the shop for you to see.)
Working larger, you will create an amazing vignette on an 14 x 18 inch prepared birch panel that will be provided as part of the workshop.
Fun Fact: A person who studies the alphabet is an, abecedarian.
