Create a one of a kind art book using a variety of papers, paints, and fabric pieces. Pages will vary in size and contain pockets, tabs, fabric scraps, trims, laces, stitched borders, and sequins. Let your imagination run wild as you add paint, fold, and add a variety of papers and fabric.. Bring any painted or printed paper from your stash. You will make a cover with handmade papers and/or fabric. I used an old tie for my binding on my small book and a postcard on the front cover. Signatures will be attached with the sewing machine. You can add embellishments to the outside of the book which will then be covered with a layer of gel that gives an amazing look and texture to your art journal. My books range from 4.5 by 6 ,6 by 9 inches, and 6X10. You will want your own sewing machine or pair up with a friend. This class is on an intermediate or advanced level and you should be familiar with your machine. I have a small Brother which is easy to use and transport.
Variety of papers …suggest 12 sheets of scrapbook paper, vintage, painted or printed papers you have on hand, scrap packs from The Queen’s Ink work great!
Fabric scraps, trims, ribbon
Matte gel medium (prefer Golden)
Something for your cover ( inside, outside, and binding)… fabric, handmade paper, embellishments
