Class Description:

One of the most fun activities I remember doing with my sisters when we were growing up and starting to flex our artistic talents was making “Shrinky Dinks”  Watching them through the oven door squiggle and squirm getting smaller and smaller was magical. I've never lost the fascination. Two years ago I took a workshop in Mexico from Julie Haymaker, who is an incredible “Shrink Plastic” artist, and was mesmerized all over again. Shrink Plastic is all grown up! The material is artist grade and available in different colors and the techniques have been refined.  We made a charm bracelet from flowers and I also used some of the flowers to adorn the sculpture that I created. The amazing things you can create and quality of this material is impressive. This workshop was inspired by Julie and some of what I learned in her workshop.

So if you are intrigued by how to make these beautiful shrink plastic flowers, then join me for an afternoon of coloring and creating. We will use shrink plastic, colored pencils, beads and jewelry findings to create a one of a kind floral charm bracelet made up of 14 flowers and leaves  Not into jewelry? These flowers can be used to decorate ornaments, adorn clothing, or make tassels for your art journals. The possibilities are endless!

Julie's company is Shrinkets  and she has designed some fantastic tools used to help shape and manipulate the shrink plastic. We will be using them in the workshop and we will also have them available in the shop for sale. All materials to make your bracelet are included.

The very talented Karen Hillman will be assisting me in this workshop. We promise you will be inspired  to make more of these pretty flowers on your own.  They are addicting.
