This new Mixed Media Landscape course is designed to help artists of all levels discover new principles and techniques of acrylic painting and mixed media while still having fun. From textured paint to collage, Gelli printing, mark making, stencils and more, this class has it all, including foundation work in color, composition and design. We will learn how to turn your play into a completed painting. By painting in an abstract manner, you can approach the canvas with the confidence of knowing that anything goes when you’re creating loose and free.
Important lessons we will cover in this course:
- Which paints, mediums to use in acrylic painting.
- How to choose and mix colors.
- The best ways to start a painting.
- What makes a good composition.
- Fun techniques to build layers of paint.
- How to add texture to make the painting pop.
- When to finish a painting and make your final mark.
- Learn how to analyze your own artwork.
Basic Set Up of palette, paper towels, baby wipes, pencil, art journal
Paints - Favorite Colors in fluid paints (golden is the teacher's favorite – Patti’s too!)
Gesso - White, Liquitex Professional gesso works best
Brushes - Bring your favorites in all sizes plus some old brushes for gel medium
Medium - Heavy body gel medium
Gelli Plate - any size
Papers - for collage and printing - deli paper, copy paper, origami paper, old book pages, etc. We will have some papers to share as well.
Mark Making - graphite, charcoal, Woodies, pastels, stencils, bubble wrap (bring what you already have, we will provide a large sample to try as well)
Stonehenge Paper - Kraft Color 22X 30 sheet will be provided
