Workshop | TRANSFORMATION with Nancy Curry
Instructor: Nancy Curry
Date: Saturday, July 29, 2017
Time: 1:00-5:00 PM
In the world of magic, there is something exhilarating about an object disappearing and reappearing as another totally different object. There is something fascinating and energizing about being able to do that as an artist. The outcome is fresh and different every time, and as a bonus, it lends itself to creating a stash of papers ready for later use. Citra Solv makes this “wow factor” change occur, but this class takes it further and focuses on composition as we manipulate the papers with different tools in additive and subtractive manners. Lots and lots of papers will be transformed as the techniques are practiced. With each new piece comes skill, confidence, and a certain boldness. Enthusiasm is contagious in this class so it’s usually hard to get students to move along to the finishing, but one favorite will be selected and finished off with new media or embellishments as desired. Matting and framing in the provided 5″ x 7″ frame is the last step. No two pieces will be alike as each outcome will be determined by the random play of the inks and the different point of view of each participant.
Nancy will bring all media, a smattering of beads/charms and a selection of word stamps & stencils. There will be plenty to go around.
Students should bring a thin liner synthetic brush, thin permanent black marker, black permanent ink pad, scissors and any favorite stamps/stencils/small embellishments.
