Workshop Description: This process will allow you to discover ways to combine printmaking and Watermedia dropped in color techniques. Invent ways to define the space around positive shapes with contrast and vibrant colors. Part of the beauty of these techniques is revealing some of the underlining abstracted imagery of shapes in selected spots. Metaphors and messages can play a whimsical or thoughtful role in your works with added bits of collage and text. Be prepared to loosen up and experiment with different resists and textures to build up the surfaces, paint translucent layers, and create extraordinary shapes. Explore mark-making with gesso, gouache, and other risk- taking stokes that will break that “tight grip on the brush” approach. Work with some very contemporary, good vibe painting techniques that won’t complicate and stress you out!
This workshop is great for all levels, beginner to advanced
I’ll bring close up images for reference, ephemera, and tools to use while we work.
